HTC 606w Emerges in China with UltraPixel Camera

One of the smartphones that Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation might bring to the market in China in the not too distant future is the HTC 606w, which has just received regulatory approvals in the country.

The smartphone was spotted with a 4.3-inch 720p touchscreen display on the front, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor inside, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal memory, and with an UltraPixel photo snapper on the back. The specs list of the smartphone also includes a 1.6MP camera on the front, a 1700 mAh battery inside, and Google’s Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean platform loaded on top right from the start.

As PhoneArena notes, the device appears to be a Chinese flavor of the HTC First that arrived in the US last week, but without Facebook Home on it. No specific info on when it might be released has emerged so far.

BlackBerry 10 Smartphone with 5-inch Display Expected This Year

Canadian mobile phone maker BlackBerry is reportedly considering the launch of a BlackBerry 10-based smartphone that would feature a 5-inch touchscreen display, in addition to launching other new device models.

Nothing has been officially confirmed on the matter for the time being, but a recent research note from Jefferies & Co.’s Peter Misek states that this might indeed happen, Barron’s reports. The analyst suggests that BlackBerry is considering the launch of two or three new BlackBerry 10 smartphones before year’s end, and that two of them will be mid-range handsets, one featuring a physical keyboard and another without one.

Additionally, a BlackBerry Z10-like smartphone packing a 5-inch screen is also expected, although it hasn’t been officially confirmed for the time being. The Canadian vendor has confirmed before that it would bring new device models to shelves in 2013, but none has been detailed as of now.
