Sony Xperia Tablet Z2 Specs Leak, Has HD Display with Android 4.4 KitKat

Last week brought up questions whether or not we were going to see Sony unveil a new tablet (so-far dubbed Castor) at MWC 2014, since rumors about it stopped appearing ahead of the big date.

Anyway it appears the tablet will appear in the wild after all, as infamous leakster @evleaks has pulled the veil off the specifications for the slate. The tablet will apparently be called Sony Xperia Tablet Z2, so basically it’s a refresh of the original model. The new slate will retain the same 10.1-inch display with the old 1920 x 1200 resolution, which is a little bit disappointing, especially since rivals are sprouting pretty competitive models.

However, things have been upgraded in the processor department, where we find a quad-core Snapdragon SoC clocked at 2.3GHz combined with 2GB / 3GB of RAM. Other than that, we can expect to see the tablet being fitted with 16GB of RAM (extendable via microSD), two cameras (worthy 8MP on the back and 2MP in front) and 6000 mAh battery. Like its predecessor, the product will sport a waterproof body. Last but not least, Castor will run Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box. Keep an eye out for it at MQW 2014, where the launch date might be revealed.

BlackBerry Z3 “Jakarta” Press Render and Specs Leak Ahead of MWC 2014

There have been a lot of rumors on the next BlackBerry 10 handset the Canadian company would launch this year, but none has been confirmed until BlackBerry's last quarterly earnings call from John Chen, who talked about a device called 'Jakarta.'

BlackBerry 'Jakarta' was leaked a while ago via handset manufacturer Foxconn, along with some details on its specs that suggested this is mid-range BlackBerry 10 smartphone. Today, N4BB reports the first official specs for the BlackBerry 'Jakarta' have been leaked along with the first press render of the smartphone. Judging by the look of the handset, BlackBerry 'Jakarta' could be a solid choice for those who wish a full touch BlackBerry 10 device but can't afford to grab the Z10 or Z30. According to the latest hearsay, BlackBerry 'Jakarta' should be available for purchase this year for around $150 (€110) outright. The information has yet to be confirmed, and the price may vary by country, but if it proves accurate this might be even cheaper than the Q5.

The 'Jakarta' is expected to go official later this month at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014, as BlackBerry Z3. No word on when it will hit shelves, but we suspect it will be available several weeks after its official release. The smartphone will be equipped with a dual-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory. There aren't any details on the presence of the microSD card slot for memory expansion, but expect the budget-friendly smartphone to offer this feature as well.

Furthermore, BlackBerry Z3 'Jakarta' is said to sport a large 5-inch qHD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 540 x 960 pixels resolution. On the back, the device packs a 5-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, while in the front there's a secondary 1.1-megapixel camera. We also know BlackBerry Z3 will be powered by a 2650 mAh non-removable battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer. Stay tuned for more updates on the smartphone's exact release date and price tag.

Xiaomi’s Upcoming Tablet Chassis Shown in First Pics

I have told you before, popular smartphone marker Xiaomi might be launching a tablet soon and the product might come bundled with an IGZO display.

Now a bunch of photos leaked on Chinese social network Weibo (via ItHome) showcase a mystery metal chassis which is said to be related to Xiaomi’s upcoming tablet (MiPad or Mi3S). So far rumors claim the tablet will arrive with a 7-inch display (possibly IGZO), a quad-core MediaTek MT8125 CPU clocked at 1.5GHz. Apparently, Xiaomi will bundle the tablet with an impressive 13MP camera (capable of recording video in 1080p).

The 7-inch tablet is supposed to sell for a super affordable $170 / €124. Anyway, the existence of the chassis might indicate the production for the tablet is already underway, so it is highly likely the product will be unveiled as soon as MWC 2014.
