Samsung Galaxy Premier (I9260) Specs Confirmed via GLBenchmark Results

The first benchmark results for Samsung Galaxy Premier leaked earlier this week, but only for the Chinese version of the smartphone.

Today, the international model has been spotted at GLBenchmark. Some of the phone's specs sheet has been confirmed as well, but can't be sure of anything until Samsung comes forward with an official announcement. All in all, it looks like Galaxy Premier will be shipped with Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box.

It will be equipped with a 1.5 GHz dual core processor, 1GB of RAM and a PowerVR SGX 544 graphics processing unit. Last but not least, Samsung Galaxy Premier is expected to arrive with 16GB of internal memory, microSD card slot and an 8-megapixel rear photo snapper. Samsung New Galaxy Smartphone with 1.7GHz Exynos 5250 CPU

Samsung fans rejoice as the South Korean handset maker is about to launch another Galaxy smartphone, the GT-B9150.

Although the device cannot be put against the company's latest Android superphones, it still packs several good features that worth mentioning. First of all, the GT-B9150 will be powered by a 1.7 GHz dual core Exynos 5250 processor and an HD display that supports 1280 x 672 pixels (?). Secondly, the smartphone will be shipped with Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, along with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

Unfortunately, these are the only specs that have been recently leaked several Japanese websites. Word is that this GT-B9150 will also pack a full QWERTY keyboard given the fact that Samsung usually puts this feature into its B series of phones. via SAMMobile and GLBenchmark.

RIM Suggests that BlackBerry 10 Will Change the Mobile Landscape

Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion is moving closer to the release of its BlackBerry 10 operating system, and the company is planning new events where to showcase the platform.

One of these will gather Canada’s officials who are interested in learning more on the OS that, according to RIM, will change everything. The company has been long touting the outstanding features of the upcoming operating system version, yet it hasn’t provided us with too many details on what to expect from it or from the devices that will be powered by it. “Join us for an exclusive cocktail reception and presentation of BlackBerry 10 and get a sneak peek of the next generation mobile platform that will change everything,” the vendor notes on its website. “This session will provide an insider look at BlackBerry 10, the much anticipated new mobile computing platform from Research In Motion,” the company continues.

The event is set to take place at the Fairmont Chateâu Laurier in Ottawa on November 7, from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. Those who would like to attend should head over to this page on the company’s website to register.   RIM also notes that the new platform version will prove more responsive than previous releases, and that it will also provide users with increased productivity capabilities. “BlackBerry 10 is promising to be intuitive and extremely responsive, providing easy access to the critical apps, communications and functionality that are most important to each unique user,” RIM states.

“Attendees at this session will experience how BlackBerry 10 will ultimately increase productivity while empowering users to stay fluidly connected to all aspects of their life.” For those out of the loop, we should note that the BlackBerry OS is already praised for its security features, and that many enterprise and government users prefer it to rival solutions. However, many companies have started to move away from the platform lately, and analysts even believe that BlackBerry will soon be outpaced in the enterprise segment by Microsoft’s rising Windows Phone platform (by the upcoming Windows Phone 8 OS flavor, to be more precise).

Android 4.2-Based Manta Emerges in AnTuTu Benchmark Again

One of the devices expected to arrive on shelves with Google’s new Android 4.2 operating system on board is codenamed Manta and is said to be a tablet PC coming from Motorola.

Nothing has been officially confirmed on the device as of now, but it can already be seen in benchmarks out there, including AnTuTu, where it was spotted with an overall score of 8754. Available details on Manta include the fact that it will hit shelves with a 1.7GHz processor inside and with the new Android platform release loaded on it.

Hopefully, additional info on the tablet PC will become available as the official release of Android 4.2 approaches, though nothing is certain for the time being, and Manta will remain only on the rumor side for a while longer.

LG Nexus 4 Unveiled in New Leaked Photo

The first Nexus device from the South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics appears set to become official before the end of this month, and some more info on it has emerged online.

A leaked photo that surfaced over at Android Central provides us with the possibility to have a closer look at the internal circuitry of this mobile phone. Basically, the handset has been photographed without the back cover on, which unveiled the 2100 mAh battery packed inside it, and which is not user replaceable. The SIM slot cannot be seen in this photo, as it is, in fact, a microSIM tray placed on the right side of the new handset.

No further info on smartphone’s specs has been provided but, should rumors on it pan out, we might be able to learn more on it on October 29.

Intel Core i7-3632QM CPU Launched

An Intel mobile processor has been officially launched, but not in the exact sense of the word. Rather than being announced with fanfare, it has been given the go to ship without any outward acknowledgement.

Truth be told, Intel does this for central processing units all the time, especially when there isn't anything particularly world-shaking to speak of. The case of the Core i7-3632QM is that precisely. Yes, it is a high-end chip simply by virtue of belonging to the Core i7 series, but in the end, it is only a play on the Core i7-3612QM. Thus, its “launched” status was learned only thanks to the updated product database.

Core i7-3612QM was launched back in April 2012 and has four cores, 6 MB of L3 cache memory, Turbo Boost support, Hyper-Threading and, of course, an integrated graphics processor: HD 4000. The Core i7-3632QM is mostly identical, only its core clock frequencies are 100 MHz higher. Instead of 2.1 GHz base and 3.1 GHz Turbo Boost, it operates at 2.2 GHz and up to 3.2 GHz, respectively. The TDP is left the same, 35W, making the chip qualify for ultrathin laptops.

Huawei Ascend W1 First Press Photo Leaks

Chinese handset maker Huawei has yet to officially announce its first Windows Phone 8 device, the Ascend W1.

Although the fist live pictures of the smartphone leaked a few days ago, it's still unclear when the phone is scheduled to hit shelves. Today, the folks over at EVLeaks have just published the first press photo of the alleged Huawei Ascend W1. The smartphone is expected to go on sale by the end of the year for around $350 USD (265 EUR) outright.

So far, we know the Ascend W1 should sports a 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution. In addition, the smarpthone will be equipped with a dual core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.

Oppo Find 5 Live Photos Emerge (More)

More mobile phone makers around the world are set to join the 5-inch smartphone party, and Chinese vendor Oppo is one of them, with the upcoming launch of their Oppo Find 5.

The company hasn’t provided a specific release date for the new mobile phone as of yet, but more photos of the device have emerged online, suggesting that it might not be too long before it arrives on shelves. Rumor has it that November will provide users with the possibility to acquire the new smartphone, although it might be released only in China. The new handset is expected to be released in 16GB and 32GB variants, with price tags of around $480 (€365) and $530 (€405) attached to them. The specifications list of the new handset hasn’t suffered modifications from what we’ve previously learned about, which means that the 5-inch Full HD 1080×1920 IPS display will be there for users to enjoy.

The smartphone was also rumored to arrive on the market with a 1.5GHz quad-core CPU inside (a Qualcomm APQ8064 Snapdragon S4 Pro), as well as with 2GB of RAM, the aforementioned internal memory options, and a 2500mAh battery. Moreover, it is said to sport Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, LTE and 3G connectivity when released, all packed inside a 6.9mm thin case. On the back, Oppo Find 5 might sport a 12-megapixel photo snapper capable of recording full HD videos. The official announcement on this device is still pending, but you can already admire it from different angles, courtesy of newly leaked photos coming from mobile.163.

One thing that is certain is that this device will be able to compete against HTC’s newly unveiled J Butterfly, and that it might even put Samsung’s Galaxy Note II in difficulty, provided that Oppo decides to make it available for purchase in more markets around the world than just China.

AMD FX-8350 Vishera 8-Core Overclocked to 7,442.83 MHz

There is little that can persuade prospective customers that a CPU is powerful like a good old fashioned overclocking session.

Since AMD's Vishera 8-core central processor needs all the help it can get, according to some, news that a record overclock has been achieved definitely puts a nice ring on things. The validation is here. Though not close to the over 8 GHz scored by Bulldozer back in 2011, the speed of 7442.83 MHz attained with the FX-8350 was still record-breaking. For Vishera chips at least. Gigabyte’s GA-990FXA-UD7 AM3+ Motherboard was used in the test. The CPU had only two out of eight cores enabled and the VCore was set at 1.968V.

No one expects regular customers to actually perform such radical clock tweaking, of course. Still, in light of this new achievement, there is more cause to believe previous reassurances that even air and standard watercoolers can handle 5-5.5 GHz with no problem. Overall, Vishera doesn't seem like such a bad deal for under $200 / 200 Euro.

Galaxy S III mini with ST-Ericsson NovaThor Chip, Confirmed

Samsung’s Galaxy S III mini, unveiled earlier this week as the smaller flavor of Galaxy S III, will arrive on shelves with ST-Ericsson’s NovaThor chip inside, the company has officially confirmed.

Initially, Samsung said that the device was powered by a dual-core 1GHz processor, but did not mention what chip it was. Today, however, ST-Ericsson announced that the smartphone is indeed powered by its NovaThor ModAp platform (U8500/U8520 family). “Our highly integrated NovaThor ModAp platform, integrating a modem and application processor on a single die, enables compact and efficient devices and we are very pleased that Samsung has again chosen us for its GALAXY S III mini,” the company said.

Galaxy S III mini is not the first smartphone from Samsung to arrive on shelves with a processor from ST-Ericsson. Galaxy S Advance, Galaxy Beam and Galaxy Ace 2 were also made available for purchase with the NovaThor platform inside, sammyhub reports.
