BlackBerry Q10 Detailed [Video]

Canadian mobile phone maker BlackBerry unveiled to the world two devices running under its BlackBerry 10 operating system, and has already brought one of them to shelves, namely the BlackBerry Z10, but has yet to release the second one, namely BlackBerry Q10.

Before that happens, however, some people had the chance to play a little with the device, and they also decided to share some of their findings with the rest of the world. The upcoming BlackBerry Q10 smartphone can be seen detailed a bit in the video embedded above, coming from 1337group.

You can have a closer look at the smartphone’s outer design and at its 1800mAh battery, not to mention the back battery cover, which sports a carbon fiber design. The software loaded on the handset isn’t detailed, but you can have a look at the steps involved in the setup process when first firing the device up.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Scores High in Benchmarks Even with Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 Inside

When unveiling the new Galaxy S4 smartphone on March 14, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung announced that it would hit shelves in some markets with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor inside, and benchmarking results for this device flavor are now available.

Users in the United States and Canada are among those who will receive this Galaxy S4 model when it becomes available for purchase in late April, and they will enjoy a nice boost in performance compared to last year’s Galaxy S III, it seems. According to a recent article on laptopmag, Samsung’s new flagship Android device is capable of reaching 21,000 points in ANTuTu, which marks nice performance increase of Galaxy S III’s average score of 16,300. Given that last year’s flagship smartphone came to the market with a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm chipset and that the new one sports a 1.9GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 CPU, the boost in benchmark score does not come as a surprise. What should be mentioned, however, is the fact that the new device can perform better than other quad-core devices as well, including the 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos-based Galaxy Note II, and even the 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm-powered Nexus 4.

Galaxy S4’s screen is said to be brighter than Galaxy S III’s, with 258 lux (compared to 213 lux), and even than that of Galaxy Note II, which sports a 240 lux rating, said news site claims. Additionally, a recent post on MobileSyrup claims that the new Samsung smartphone can perform very well in Sunspider Javascript benchmark, with a result of 822.6ms, said to be one of the fastest seen on mobile devices. With a larger screen compared to Galaxy S III, a faster, more powerful processor and a wide range of new software features packed inside, Galaxy S4 seems set to prove an even better seller than last year’s flagship.

Apple Answers Samsung Galaxy S4 with New iPhone Campaign

Apple has released a new iPhone campaign to combat Samsung’s new Galaxy S4 handset, touting the flagship features that have made iPhones the top choice among millions of customers worldwide.

“What makes an iPhone unlike anything else? Maybe it’s that it lets you do so many things. Or that it lets you do so many things so easily. Those are two reasons iPhone owners say they love their iPhone. But there are many others as well,” reads the advert. Apple proceeds to mention that its iPhones have received eight straight J.D. Power and Associates awards for customer satisfaction, as well as the attractive design which also makes the phone thin and light.

The Cupertino giant then touts: the Retina display; battery life; the powerful yet power-efficient A6 chip; ultrafast wireless; the cameras; the 800,000 apps on iTunes; iOS 6; Siri; iCloud; and support from real people. Visit Apple’s site to check out the new campaign in full.

Qualcomm Confirms Samsung Galaxy S4 Ships with Snapdragon 600 in Select Markets

Samsung announced a few days ago its upcoming Galaxy S 4 will be equipped with its own Exynos 5 Octa chipset, which has been confirmed to feature two quad-core processors.

However, the South Korean company also stated the Galaxy S 4 will use a different Qualcomm chipset in some markets like United States and Canada. Obviously, everyone though the smartphone will be equipped with the Snapdragon 600 chipset, but some were hoping the Galaxy S 4 would be shipped with a much better Snapdragon 800 CPU. Today, Tim McDonough, Vice President, Marketing, Qualcomm Mobile & Computing, announced to the world the next-generation Galaxy S smartphone will use the company's Snapdragon 600 chipset. “It appears Samsung has done it again. They just launched the Galaxy S 4 , the latest in the very successful Galaxy S line of smartphones. The Galaxy S 4 is packed with cool new features that promise to deliver innovative smartphone experiences to its users. 

We are proud to say that the newest Snapdragon 600 processor is at the heart of the Galaxy S 4 in select regions, providing the efficient processing and cutting-edge features needed to deliver these kinds of innovative smartphone user experiences,” said McDonough. As expected, Qualcomm's chipset inside the Galaxy S 4 will feature a quad-core Krait processor clocked at 1.9 GHz for fast, efficient asynchronous processing. Other goodies packed inside Qualcomm's Snapdragon 600 chipset include:

• LTE Cat 3 network support;
• 2 GB LPDDR3 RAM;
• Hexagon QDSP6 for ultra-low power audio playback and video enhancements;
• Speed enhanced Adreno 320 GPU for high-end 3D graphics and compute processing;
• 1080p HD video capture and playback;
• HD multichannel sound with DTS-HD and Dolby Digital Plus audio;
• OpenGL ES 3.0 conformant.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Full Specs

Samsung has officially unveiled the new GALAXY S 4 smartphone today in New York, and is set to bring it to shelves in over 150 countries starting with next month.

Just as expected, the new device will hit the market with top-of-the-line hardware specifications packed inside, starting with the 5-inch full HD (1920 x 1080 pixel) Super AMOLED touchscreen that can deliver a pixel density of 441 ppi. The screen is protected by Corning's new Gorilla Glass 3, which makes it very durable, yet it can also be operated with gloves. Depending on the market, the GALAXY S 4 will sport a 1.9GHz quad-core Qualcomm processor inside, or will be powered by Samsung's own 1.6GHz Exynos octa-core chip. The processor is paired with 2GB of RAM, and there is also a 2600mAh battery to offer increased usage time. Samsung will launch the smartphone in three configurations, based on the internal memory, namely 16GB, 32GB and 64GB, but will also enable users to expand the storage with the use of memory cards.

The phone's specs list also includes WiFi a/b/g/n/ac, IR blaster, Bluetooth 4.0 + LE, NFC connectivity, MHL 2.0, and built-in GPS receiver. On the back, the upcoming device will feature a 13-megapixel photo snapper, with support for 1080p video recording, complemented by a 2MP front camera for making video calls. Samsung also packed the new GALAXY S 4 with HSPA+42 Mbps and 4G LTE connectivity, and claims that the LTE version supports up to 6 different band sets, so that it could be used in most LTE coverage areas. A TDD/FDD LTE Dual Mode version be launched later this year.

Set to arrive on shelves in Black Mist and White Frost initially, with more colors to follow later this year, GALAXY S 4 runs under Google's Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system. The handset measures 136.6 x 69.8 x 7.9mm (5.38 x 2.75 x 0.31 inch) and weighs 130g (4.59 ounces), while featuring the entire range of usual sensors, along with some new ones, namely temperature, humidity and IR for gestures.

Samsung Galaxy S IV Gets Torn to Pieces Before Official Launch

Just hours before the official launch event for the Galaxy S IV is set to kick off in New York, the device has seen the teardown treatment in China, after a series of hands-on photos and videos were published with it.

Supposedly the dual-SIM flavor of the handset for China, the smartphone is said to arrive on shelves as Samsung GT-I9502, while packing an 8-core processor inside. According to Chinese website it168, which tore the smartphone down to have a look at its internal circuitry, the Exynos 5410 chipset is confirmed, along with a a Qualcomm ESC6270 chip for GSM connectivity, and a Broadcom BCM4752 chip for GPS, phoneArena explains.

The phone also features 16GB of internal memory, a microSD card slot, a 2600mAh battery, and two SIM card slots, which might not make it inside the international flavor.

Samsung Galaxy S IV Launch Event Coverage

Today, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics will make official its next handset in the popular Galaxy lineup, expected to arrive on shelves as the flagship Galaxy S IV.

The handset has made it to the headlines quite a few times in the past several months, but today, all of its features and hardware specifications will be formally introduced to the world. The launch will take place in New York, at an event set to be streamed live in Times Square, where Samsung has been teasing the device for the past week or so. The press event will kick off at 7PM ET, or 11PM GMT for users in Europe, and we’ll be here to provide you with the latest details on the upcoming smartphone. Before that, however, you might want to have a look at some of the rumored specs of the device, starting with the new 8-core Exynos 5410 processor clocked in at 1.8GHz (though some suggest that a Snapdragon 600 CPU might be included in the device in some markets). The handset is also said to sport 2GB of RAM, 16GB / 32GB / 64GB of internal memory, with a microSD memory card slot to allow for further storage expansion.

On the front, there should be a 5-inch full HD screen that will also offer support for floating touch, paired with a 2.1MP camera. A 13-megapixel photo snapper on the back should provide users with an appealing imaging experience, as well as with full HD video recording capabilities. The usual set of connectivity capabilities will also be included inside the smartphone, along with the entire range of sensors, rumor has it.  On top of that, the phone is expected to sport eye-tracking features, so that users would be able to scroll web pages without even touching the device. Furthermore, it was said to include SwiftKey's predictive technology and to be able to shoot with both front and back cameras at the same time.

All in all, it appears that there’s nothing left for Samsung to announce, except maybe for the phone’s design, availability and pricing. Galaxy S IV comes with Dual Camera video shooting capabilities, being able to capture not only the scene the user is looking at, but also the user capturing it. Dual Camera also works for taking photos. Galaxy S IV comes with S Translator app. Users type words in English and the smartphone will read them aloud in the language of their choice. It supports 9 languages at the moment. More new features in Galaxy S IV: Adapt Display, Story Album (albums can also be printed, courtesy of a collaboration with Blurb), and HomeSync with screen mirroring.

S Voice Drive, a new feature aimed at enabling users to better interact with the device while driving. It can work as a personal assistant, Samsung claims. Galaxy S IV can also be operated with gloves on (a feature that Nokia included in their Lumia 920 last year). Samsung Hub and Samsung Knox also included inside the new smartphone. The handset also comes with S Health (and an S Band - fitbit) S View Cover, Group Play, Samsung WatchON, and a great deal of other features as well. The event is over, with Galaxy S IV expected to become available globally starting with Q2.

Samsung Galaxy S 4 Goes Official Now, Will Arrive Next Month

Today, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung unveiled to the world its next Android-based flagship device, the Galaxy S 4.

Running under Android 4.2.2, the new handset is only 7.9mm slim, weighs at 130 grams and was designed to “redefine the way we live and to maximize our fulfillment of life,” Samsung claims. The smartphone will arrive on shelves in Black Mist and White Frost starting with late April, but will also be released in a series of other color options later this year, Samsung announced. "With the Galaxy S 4, Samsung is again going to enhance the way we live," said JK Shin, President and Head of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung. "All the innovative features of Galaxy S 4 were developed based on the insights and needs we found from our consumers all around the world. Following the successful Galaxy S series, this phone is yet another great proof point of people-inspired innovation.”

“At Samsung we'll never stop pursuing innovation conceived by people, so we can inspire them in return,” he continued. Galaxy S 4 arrives on shelves with a 5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED screen, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 2MP front camera for making video calls, and a new "Dual Camera" function to enable users to simultaneously shoot with both cameras. The handset also comes with 12 outstanding shooting modes including “Drama Shot” and “Sound & Shot,” as well as with a new “Story Album” function to store important moments. Galaxy S 4 arrives on the market with support for HSPA+42 Mbps and 4G LTE connectivity, a 1.9 GHz quad-core processor / 1.6 GHz octa-core processor, depending on the market, and a great deal of new features. As mentioned at the launch event, some of these include Group Play, S Translator, Smart Pause, Air View, Smart Scroll, S Voice Drive, Samsung WatchON, Optical Reader, and S Health.

Samsung Galaxy S 4 is set to hit shelves starting with the second quarter of the year, and will be available globally, including the United States. In the end, the device will arrive in 155 countries and will be carried by 327 operators, Samsung unveiled. It will be launched via wireless carriers such as AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, US Cellular and Cricket in the US, and Deutsche Telecom, EE, H3G, Orange, Telenor, Telia Sonera, Telefonica, and Vodafone in Europe.

Samsung Galaxy S IV LTE (GT-I9505X) Receives Approvals in Indonesia

While getting ready for its official unveiling on March 14 in New York, Samsung’s Galaxy S IV smartphone is also receiving approvals in various markets around the world, a sign that Samsung is set to bring it to shelves soon after formally introducing it.

Recently, the smartphone was spotted at POSTEL, Indonesia’s certification forum, and was also said to have received approvals in Taiwan, which means that Samsung is set to bring it to the market in Asia soon. The smartphone was approved with model number GT-I9505X attached to it, and is said to be en route to the market as Galaxy S IV LTE, yet this hasn’t been confirmed for the time being. According to the listing at POSTEL, Galaxy S IV will land on shelves with a quad-core processor packed inside, which is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 (APQ8064T) CPU clocked in at 1.9GHz. Furthermore, it will sport a 4.99-inch full HD (1080 x 1920 pixel) touchscreen, along with a 13-megapixel photo snapper on the back, and a 2MP camera on the front. At the same time, the smartphone is said to pack 4G LTE capabilities, along with W-CDMA / GSM connectivity.

According to a recent post on Ameblo, the smartphone is expected to arrive on shelves in various configurations, and might offer support for different networks frequencies based on that. Based on previous rumors on the device, we know that Galaxy S IV will be launched in three versions based on the available internal memory, and that Samsung is also preparing a dual-SIM flavor of the handset, at least for the market in China. In fact, the dual-SIM Galaxy S IV was spotted online today in a hands-on video, and is said to feature model number GT-I9502. It will land on shelves with a 2600 mAh battery inside, while running under Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

Samsung Galaxy Note III to Use Sharp’s LCD Screens

South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung is expected to launch a third smartphone in the popular Galaxy Note series in late 2013, and some new info on what the device might sport has emerged.

According to a recent article on SamMobile, chances are that the device would feature an LCD screen when released, and that Samsung is working with Sharp on this. While the upcoming Galaxy S IV smartphone was rumored to arrive on shelves with a PHOLED screen, which would make it more battery-efficient than previous handsets in the Galaxy S lineup, the vendor will change its focus to LCD screens with the upcoming Galaxy Note III.

Apparently, this was the main reason for which it decided to invest in Sharp. Samsung is expected to continue using OLED screens in larger devices, as well as in high-end smartphones, it seems.
