Since many notebooks, especially ultrabooks, lack an optical drive of their own, Pioneer has created a portable drive of that sort.
Called BDR-XS05J, and revealed through Hermitage Akihabara, it can read and write pretty much every relevant type of disk, from CD (compact disk) format to DVD and, of course, Blu-ray. CDs can be scribed at 24X, for example. Blu-ray disks record at up to 6X, DVDs at up to 8X. What's more, single- and double-layer BD-R and BD-R LtH are scribed at up to 6X, while triple- and quadruple-layer disks can be written onto at 4X.
That's right, this USB 3.0-connected portable peripheral can write data on BDXL Blu-ray disks (up to 100/128 GB storage space). Pioneer has bundled the drive with a bunch of programs (InstantBurn 5, PowerBackup 2, LabelPrint 2, and MediaShow 6, Cyberlink PowerDVD 10, PowerDirector 10, PowerProducer 5, Power2Go 7).
Huawei Ascend P6, the long rumored and teased smartphone from the Chinese mobile phone maker, is now official, claiming the title of world’s thinnest Android handset, courtesy of a 6.18mm thick body.
The handset was spotted in a series of leaked hands-on photos only a few hours before its official unveiling in London, and is set to arrive on the market before the end of the month, with China receiving it first. However, the smartphone will make an international debut, and the first European countries it is aimed at will receive it starting with July, Huawei announced. Just as previously suggested, the new device will land on the market with a 4.7-inch HD display, while being powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM. The specifications list of the new mobile phone also includes an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back with BSI sensor, paired with a 5MP front camera for making video calls. Furthermore, the handset lands on shelves with a 2000mAh battery inside, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, and Huawei’s Emotion UI loaded on top.
The user interface also sports an updated Uni-Home, as well as the vendor's Me Widget, MagicTouch, and SmartReading, and features such as panoramic shoot, facial recognition, and Airshare. Furthermore, Ascend P6 has the company’s IMAGEsmart software packed inside, with photo-editing capabilities for all users to enjoy. “The Huawei Ascend P6 is a star among smartphones with its industry-leading design, high-quality camera, and intuitive user interface, Huawei’s proprietary Emotion UI,” said Richard Yu, chief executive officer, Huawei Consumer Business Group.
“Building on the success of our Ascend P series of fashion smartphones, the HUAWEI Ascend P6 provides unsurpassed technology and a design that is simply stunning.” When launched in Europe, the device is expected to be available through Vodafone, Telefonica, Orange, H3G, O2, Carphone Warehouse, TalkTalk, Media Markt & Saturn, TIM, and online via Amazon and CDiscount.

A new smartphone from Finnish handset vendor Nokia has received the necessary approvals from the FCC, featuring model number RM-877 and expected to prove none other than the long rumored Nokia EOS.
The new device was approved with support for AT&T’s LTE bands (2, 4, 5, and 17), as well as for penta-band HSPA+ / WCDMA (with AWS disabled) and quad-band GSM / EDGE, Engadget reports. The mobile phone is also expected to arrive on shelves with Wi-Fi connectivity packed inside, as well as with NFC and Bluetooth.
The available FCC documents also show that the new mobile phone will be one millimeter taller than the Nokia Lumia 925, measuring 130.35mm in height and 71.4mm in width. There’s also a "camera grip" (model PD-95G) mentioned, which further suggests that this would be the Nokia EOS, expected to hit shelves with a 41MP camera packed inside.

Miniature personal computers are the sort of systems that people would expect to have modest performance capabilities, and that is usually the case, but there are exceptions, like the Giada D2308.
At first glance, one might be tempted to mistake the product for a wireless router, because of the three antennas sticking up at the back. Nevertheless, while the PC does have support for Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless Internet, it isn't just a router. Rather, it is a fully-fledged desktop packed inside a very small package. The so-called heart of the system is, surprise, an Intel Haswell Core i5 or Core i7 central processing unit (CPU). It will fall to buyers to choose which fourth-generation processor they prefer, based on monetary constraints (if any) and performance aims.
Meanwhile, graphics capabilities aren't limited to the integrated graphics processor of the Haswell unit. Instead, Giada went ahead and included an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650, with 1 GB of VRAM. Moving on, a pair of mini PCI Express slots are available, for customers to fill with low-profile add-in boards (sound cards or whatever else). Furthermore, Gigabit Ethernet is available, along with Bluetooth and, as we've already mentioned, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n. Other specifications include two HDMI outputs, a Bluray/DVD player, support for the Trusted Platform Module (TPM, which provides extensive security with high levels of data encryption) and up to 16 GB of RAM for everything to run smoothly.
Finally, storage space comes in the form of a 2.5-inch SATA drive (HDD or SSD). All in all, the hardware is what we'd expect from a Windows XP / Windows 7 / Windows 8 / Linux mini PC. The Giada Tech website has all this information, and more (and we don't just mean the Phoenix EFI BIOS with support for an ACPI interface), but the price seems to elude us.

The mobile phone is set to be announced in London, following a series of teasers from the company, but ICTech has managed to grab some hands-on photos with it, and has shared them with the world. As SlashGear notes, the phone should land on the market with a 4.7-inch display capable of delivering a 720p resolution, along with a 1.5GHz quad-core K3V2+ processor inside, and 3GB of RAM.
Furthermore, the smartphone packs an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, front camera for video calling, 8GB of internal memory, and should land on shelves in black and white, with a very slim metallic body.

One would think that a few more months would pass before Intel shared information about a CPU collection scheduled for release in 2014, especially since the predecessor of that line has yet to come out itself.
Nevertheless, the Haswell-E series of high-end central processing units has been detailed by the folks at VR-Zone. Apparently, the 2014-bound processing units will have 6 or 8 cores, a cache memory of 20 MB (L3), Hyper Threading (16 threads for 8 cores), and a maximum TDP (thermal design power) of 130W or 140W. To show how serious it is about high performance, Intel won't even bother with quad-core models anymore. Unfortunately, while these Haswell-E processors sound impressive, the news of their future arrival comes in tow with a somewhat less pleasing one: Broadwell 14nm units won't come out in 2014 after all. Instead, the Haswell series will be refreshed with some better clock speeds for the same price as the ones revealed at Computex 2013. But we digress. Since we talked about the chips, what's left is to cover the chipset that will welcome the 22nm Haswell-E units: Wallsburg.
The platform will have what it takes to singlehandedly manage six USB 3.0 ports, eight USB 2.0 ports, and 10 SATA 6 Gbps connectors. Integrated Clock support is included in the spec sheet, and the TDP is a surprisingly low 6.5W. By far the most important asset, however, is the support for DDR4 memory, and quad-channel at that. All in all, the Haswell-E platform may end up around 33-50% better than the upcoming Ivy Bridge-E/EP collection. Wellsburg will allow DDR4 to be installed and run at 333 MHz, 1600 MHz, 1866 MHz, and 2133 MHz. But since 2133 MHz will probably be the minimum speed of DDR4 modules, greater heights are a certainty.
As for the LGA 2011-3 socket, it will have the same dimensions and ball pattern pitch as LGA 2011, but will be more efficient and, for better package handling, comes with additional wings in the LGA 2011-3 socket help.

Mobile phone maker Motorola has already confirmed plans to bring to the market this year the long rumored Moto X phone, yet it did not provide specific info on what the device would have to offer to users.
However, a recent leak from @evleaks suggests that the handset would not land on shelves as a high-end smartphone, as previous rumors suggested, but that it would be only a mid-range device, still capable of delivering appealing performance to users. Apparently, Moto X will hit shelves with a 1.7GHz dual-core MSM8960 Snapdragon S4 Pro processor inside, paired with 2GB of RAM, and will feature 16GB of internal memory.
A 720p touchscreen is also expected on this device, along with a 10-megapixel photo snapper on its back, and a 2MP front camera for making video calls. The phone will run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, it seems.

South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics is reportedly getting ready for the launch of a new flavor of its Galaxy S4 smartphone, one that would pack a Snapdragon 800 processor inside, and which has already emerged in benchmarks.
At the moment, the handset is being sold with either a quad-core Snapdragon 600 or an eight-core Exynos 5 Octa CPU, but the new flavor should land in South Korea soon, PhoneArena reports. The device has been spotted in AnTuTu, where it scored 31,491 points, higher than the eight-core model, and is also said to have received the necessary approvals from the Wi-Fi Alliance, as Samsung SHV-E330S.
Earlier, the mobile phone received DLNA certification, all suggesting that its official launch should be near, so stay tuned to learn more on the matter.

Sony Mobile’s next high-end Android-based smartphone, supposedly called Xperia Z Ultra (or Xperia ZU), has emerged in a new set of allegedly leaked photos, which appear meant to show more of its capabilities.
One of the photos, available courtesy of nowhereelse.fr, shows a device resembling the Xperia ZR that was made official only recently, though apparently larger. Additionally, the handset can be seen in a series of photos coming from ePrice, which confirm that it will hit the market with support for a stylus, just as XperiaBlog notes.
The handset is said to become official in early July with a 6.4-inch touchscreen display, a quad-core processor inside, 2GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, and Google’s Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system loaded on top, but no official confirmation on this has emerged so far.

HTC One mini, the smaller flavor of the handset vendor’s current flagship smartphone, has emerged in a newly leaked photo.
The new image supposedly confirms not only its existence, but also shows how it will stack up against the full-sized model. The handset is expected to arrive on shelves with a 4.3-inch touchscreen display, supposedly a 720p one, while still featuring the same metallic unibody as the predecessor. According to Engadget, which brought the photo above to the web, the smartphone will also sport Beats Audio, as well as a plastic bezel on the front, yet won’t include the IR blaster that HTC One arrived on shelves with.
