Nokia 700 and Nokia 701 Hands-On at IFA 2011

Nokia 700 and Nokia 701, two of the first mobile phones in the world to arrive on shelves with the new Symbian Belle operating system from Nokia, were present on the floor at the IFA 2011 show in Berlin, and we spent a few minutes in their company.

Symbian Belle is the latest OS flavor that Nokia announced to the world, and should be loaded in a series of powerful yet affordable devices, which should help the Finnish giant regain its foothold on the smartphone market.

Packing a 3.2-inch touchscreen AMOLED, ClearBlack display that can deliver a 16:9 nHD (640 x 360 pixels) resolution, the Nokia 700 is one of the phones that should offer users the possibility to enjoy the new Symbian platform release in an affordable form factor.

Not to mention that the mobile phone comes with a 1GHz application processor inside, which should provide users with increased performance capabilities when compared to previous Symbian devices from Nokia.

Nokia 700 will arrive on shelves in the fourth quarter of the ongoing year with 2 GB of internal memory and with a microSD memory card slot so that users could expand the available storage by up to 32GB.

The new mobile phone also arrives on shelves with HSDPA 14.4 Mbps /HSUPA 5.76 Mbps capabilities, as well as with WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, Standard 3.5 mm AV connector with TV-out, and with NFC capabilities, and A-GPS.

On the back of Nokia 700, Nokia packed a 5-megapixel photo snapper with LED flash and HD 720p video recording capabilities, while placing a BP-5Z 1080mAh battery inside it, to deliver up to 7 hours of talk time, or up to 465 hours of standby time. The phone measures 110 x 50 x 9.7 mm and weighs in at 96 grams.

There is also the new Nokia 701, which comes with a bit larger display, measuring 3.5 inches and being capable of delivering a 16:9 nHD (640 x 360 pixels) resolution.

Also featuring a fast 1GHz application processor inside, the Nokia 701 can offer up to 8 GB of internal memory complemented by a microSD memory card slot, along with HSDPA 14.4 / 5.76 Mbps connectivity, and WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities.

The Nokia 701 was packed with an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with dual LED flash and support for HD video recording, along with video playback capabilities (720p 30fps MPEG-4 SP/ ASP and H.264 HP).

Measuring 117.2 x 56.8 x 11 mm and weighing in at 131 grams, the Nokia 701 sports a BL-5K 1300 mAh Li-Ion battery inside, capable of providing users with up to 17 hours of talk time on GSM, and with up to 504 hours of standby time.

Running under Symbian Belle, both mobile phones can offer support for HTML 4.1, Qt 4.7.3, Web Runtime 7.2 , Shazam, Nokia Maps, fast Internet Browsing, and access to social networking sites, including Facebook or Twitter. They will also enable users to download and install applications and games from the Ovi Store.
