Transform Raspberry Pi in a Home Theatre

Raspberry PI, a mini PC with an estimate cost of  $25 (€18.5), developed by The Raspberry Pi Foundation, has received yet another distro, this time transforming it into a home theatre.

The new distribution is an ARM port of Open Embedded Linux Entertainment Center, or better known as OpenELEC, which is built specifically to run XBMC, the open source entertainment media hub.

With this distribution installed, Raspberry PI will be able to act as a Home Theatre PC, fulfilling the role of a DVD player or Sky box.

OpenELEC is really small and has only 70 MB (including XBMC, Python, and all services/tools needed to run XBMC) is the tiniest distribution available so far.

According to the developers, the distro still needs a lot of work, but it will be launch for tests soon.
