Redsn0w 0.9.15b3 Does the Job on Both Mac and Windows to Jailbreak iOS 6.1

The latest iOS 6.1 beta from Apple is supported by Redsn0w 0.9.15b3, a jailbreak tool coded by the infamous iPhone Dev Team. The hack is a tethered one for now, but as soon as Apple releases the final version of iOS 6.1 to the public, the untethered jailbreak will also be made available.

Developers who’ve downloaded the iOS 6.1 beta 5 from Apple confirmed this weekend that, unlike previous betas, it doesn’t require registration. In other words, the IPSW is usable much in the same way as a public iOS release. This doesn’t mean you should mess around with your device like that, but we’re not here to take sides or hold lectures on jailbreaking. Apple doesn’t like it, and it might void your warranty. ‘Nuff said.

With that out of the way, if you’re an iOS developer who has already downloaded the latest iOS 6.1 beta and you’re looking for a jailbreak, we’re pleased to inform you that Redsn0w 0.9.15b3 does the job brilliantly. As before, all you need to do is point the software to a stock iOS 6 IPSW designated for your device (only A4 handsets supported for now). To get Cydia, make sure its box is checked during the installation process. You’ll also need to click OK on the Tethered Jailbreak notification.
