Motorola Releases Moto G Open Source Software

Motorola Mobility has just announced that it has released the Moto G open source files. The kernel and other GPL files are essential for developers who want to create custom ROMs for Moto G.

Those who wish to download the open source files for Moto G can do so via SourceForge page. The Moto G has already been confirmed for an Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade next year, so another set of open source files might be released soon after the update becomes available. For those unfamiliar, the Moto G was launched last month and is now available for purchase for just $180 (€130) outright. The smartphone comes with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box and packs a more than decent 1.2 GHz quad-core processor inside.

It also features a large 4.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution, as well as 1GB of RAM and 8GB or 16GB of internal memory.
