Nokia R Feature Phone Leaks

It doesn’t come as a surprise that Nokia plans to launch a new entry-level feature phone, but we rarely get a live picture of the final product with so many months ahead of its alleged release on the market.

The folks over at Phonearena have been recently tipped on the upcoming release of an unannounced Nokia feature phone. Dubbed Nokia R, the handset is said to go on sale sometime in April, which puts the official announcement sometime in March. Nokia R is a budget-friendly feature phone that runs Series 40 UI, also known as Nokia OS. However, the source of the leak claims that Nokia’s user interface has been drastically improved, though additional details haven’t been disclosed yet. Even if more details on these improvements would have surfaced, there’s a lot of time left until the release of Nokia R, so the Finnish company might change any of these features and/or add more.

The anonymous tipster sent Phonearena a live picture of Nokia R, which looks like an ordinary handset. Specs-wise, the phone is quite decent for a budget-friendly feature phone. According to the leaker, Nokia R sports a 2.4-inch standard display that supports 240 x 320 pixels resolution and 65K colors. In addition, it packs 16MB of RAM and a 1100 mAh Li-Ion battery. Nokia R measures 116.4 x 50.3 x 13.25mm and will probably be launched on the market in multiple color versions. The live picture that has just been leaked only shows the yellow version, but we can safely assume that it will be available in other colors as well. Other highlights of the feature phone include FM Radio, MP3 player and EDGE connectivity. The handset won’t offer 3G support and there’s no word on microSD card slot for memory expansion.
